The Devil's Wind

When it began
We can't remember
Maybe as a wind
A wind that carried the news
The talks, the gossips, the radio waves
We payed it no attention
Or maybe we did
Maybe the worth of what we paid
Was not the worth of what it deserved
It grew
In the silence, and in the noise
We turned
Maybe we tried our best to fight
Maybe our best was too mediocre
We had been outnumbered
Our actions were slow
Our reactions too sloppy
What was once news
A tragic story in a different region
Though the same land
We offered sympathy
We wept
But never enough action
The ones who guide and guard us
Did too little to be considered help
They bargained
And danced with the devil
Invited him into our tents
Now, we shiver
Unable to move freely
Unable to think freely
Unsafe, Unguarded
Shackled by the thoughts that the lion roams
Nay, the lions
With guns for teeth
Ammunition for heart
And a chest plated in stone, in and out
Help us!

The Lands Of The Niger

The youthfulness I once did feel
Now undone by an economy
How I miss my defiled innocence
And our stolen joyous ambience

The Niger lands have struck us all
Our troubles rise as our hearts fall
She steals our ingenuity
And casts us into poverty

We once did have such unity
Where everyone owned everything
A meal, a ware, a great idea
were all collective, all were shared

But now afraid of theft we curse
The neighbour who approaches us
To make a singular request
Oh how the Niger lands regressed

To modernize and be the West
The Niger lands choose decadence
Her morals dropped and standards too
She happily still plays the fool

So now our young born in this time
Grow in deceit and live a lie
Not knowing what the land once was
Corrupted by what the lands have done

And now the last the lands destroyed
Is me and what I used to be
It twisted and made my mind adjust
The lands produce immature adults

To live and thrive they work to earn
A teenage child or one turned ten
To feed the mouth, they risk their lives
And roam the streets so they'll survive

For long have I missed mother's meal
Too early I had to provide for self
We hope, we pray the lands may heal
And return to what it used to be

Meticulous Mind

How perfect he was I can not tell
This story is I do have to share
And if your minds happen to grasp
Hold this knowledge in a tightened clasp

There once was one who played the tune
A gift that made dead flowers bloom
His sound divine as morning dew
Frankly indeed, this tale is true

This one with time in knowledge grew
And took to ink, well, paper too
With skill, his works were wonderful
For beauty, to love as well reproof

Apparent it was, indeed he knew
This one saw he was beautiful
He felt the air his presence blew
And was struck with joy from heaven too

Meticulous, he saw every clue
This one perfectly understood
The world and what was meant to be
Truly, this one indeed is me.
