Collins Aiterebhe

Biography: ...I recall the pernicious vent of inanity, an attorney of songs; a kiss of imaginative empathy that dwells occasionally in artistic isolation!

BENUE MASSACRE

You let me die in your hands

Before your very eyes

I slump helplessly to the ground

Mutilated in body and soul

Burnt unto death

My feeble spirit rendered asunder

Beyond hope and life

Beyond your nagging promises of peace

You let knives cross-cross my face

In a dilemma of complicities

This is not the first time

Always you have watched me die

To sappours and brawling spears

swastikas and wide guns

My life is a tact folklore

Which in your marauding play

Has gained a constant momentum

To death and lo... You watch albeit

To allow evening dust

Crush on my face

You feine you do not see

Or perhaps all is well

But I die everyday

My clans die too

To the very mute indifference

Of your dark trends
